Pattie's Top 10 Tools as at 20 February 2008

  1. del.icio.us - A favourite among many, the tag and search features of this free social bookmarking tool have been invaluable to me in keeping track of resources for myself.

  2. SplashCast - A free and easy to use tool that allows you to "create streaming media ‘channels’ that mix together video, music, photos, narration, text, as well as RSS feeds, PowerPoint presentations and PDF documents. These user-generated channels can be played and easily syndicated on any web site, blog, or social network page."

  3. TooFAST - A free and "simple online survey tool for teachers to assess their students' impressions of their courses and their teaching."

  4. Microsoft OneNote - A great tool that helps me keep my notes organized. Because it's on a tablet PC, it's easy to add drawings and diagrams to notes.

  5. Convertible Tablet PC - I bought mine about 2 years ago, but here is the latest version of the Gateway Convertible TabletI love it -- it's great for meetings and for the online eLearning development I do!

  6. FastStone Photo Resizer - Free tool that allows quick batch conversion or resizing of photos.

  7. WetPaint Wiki - Provides free wikis, and now has ad-free educational wikis. Very user-friendly interface.

  8. Audacity - A great free (open source) tool for creating and editing audio files.

  9. Turbine video encoder - A relatively inexpensive tool to convert video to .flv format. (Free Trial)

  10. SMART Ideas - Very useful concept mapping tool! (Free Trial)
