I teach Information Science and Technology at Bucks County Community College in Newtown, Pennsylvania which is about 30 miles north of Philadelphia. I have been teaching on-line courses since 1994.  I am a WebCT Certified Trainer, CE6 Certified and a Quality Matters reviewer. This fall I am teaching Database Design and Application Development, Introduction to Information Science, Mobile Computing and Computers, Media and the Teacher.

Arta's Top 10 Tools as at 12 July 2008

  1. Myitlab - LMS that has content specific training and assessment for MS Office 2007. This web based product is available from Pearson Publishing and maps directly to the tutorials in the textbooks.
  2. iGoogle - Create your own personal webpage that includes many useful widgets and links to web addresses I can access from any internet connection
  3. www.giveawayoftheday.com - free software is available daily. Just download, activate and install. Full commercial utilities.
  4. Jing -  Screen capture and publishing
  5. iSpring pro—converts powerpoint to flash for web based display, addin for PowerPoint 2007, incorporate music or audio
  6. Studymate - create custom games from testbanks. 
  7. Quality Matters – Rubric and peer review system for developing and improving course delivery.
  8. Google Groups - Great for collaboration and sharing information.
  9. Google Docs—share documents and access from any site, group work and collaboration are facilitated.
  10. Wetpaint - wiki easy to set up and use.
