Neil's Top 10 Tools as at 16 April 2009

  1. Wink - Free - Brilliant screen capture tool that’s simple to use. Produces great results.
  2. Snippy - Free - Nice, quick and easy little tool for quickly capturing sections of screen in either freehand or rectangle.
  3. eXe - Free - Easy to use SCORM content packager that can create websites also. Has a few built in features that are useful and can be expanded further.
  4. Moviemaker - Free - Foolproof way of producing videos, just add imagination.
  5. iTunes - Free - Do I need to explain… Excellent podcast aggregating tool with a library of content waiting to be explored
  6. AccessApps - It’s free, it provides a wealth of assistive tools to support a variety of disabilities and difficulties. It is designed to be installed and used from a USB stick.
  7. Dasher - Free - An excellent example of the amazing assistive technology that’s available. Why should people have to develop strategies to cope with and use technologies when there is help available. And free help at that
  8. Google Search - Free - Has to be my #1. I ask and it replies. Brilliant and getting better by the day.
  9. Dragon Naturally Speaking - £££ - Expensive but very good. Save time on typing, operate you computer by voice command. Excellent for those with dyslexia
  10. Dreamweaver - £££ - The best web editor on the market, period.
