The Non-Training Approach to Workplace Learning is about supporting continuous learning and performance improvement in the workplace in ways that are relevant both to today’s workers and at the same time meet the needs of today’s organisations.
The Kickstart package, facilitated by Jane Hart, provides an opportunity for your team to come together to experience the concept of Non-Training approach as well as discuss any concerns or issues they have about it. An outline agenda might look something like this:
- Quick presentation
- 3 factors that are driving a new approach to workplace learning:
- Differences between training and non-training
- Activity: Are you ready to support a non-training approach to workplace learning?
- Are you a Smart Worker?
- Is your team a Smart Team?
- Activity/Simulation: Modelling new behaviors and practices in an online community
- Encouraging and supporting individuals and teams
- Supporting communities
- Encouraging autonomy
- Focus discussions: More in-depth treatments of topics of specific interest to your team
- Performance consulting – selecting the right approach (training v non-training)
- Content creation – from courses to job aids – top down and sharing
- Mentoring and coaching
- Integrating learning into the workflow – the role of tools and systems
- Governance
